Covid-19: Karnataka govt extends free bus service to migrant workers for 2 more days

Bengaluru/UNI:  Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa on Monday extended free bus services to migrant workers leaving to their native places for two more days.

In a statement issued here from the CM office it was informed that the free bus service was expected to close down on May five but now extended up to May 7.

He asked the labourers and other workers who wish to go back to their places not to hurry since the service has been extended for two more days and should not come in large number at the bus stands.

He said on May 3, nearly 951 buses provided with about 30,000 people left their places. On Monday, nearly 50 buses will be provided with 1500 persons moving to their places.

Nearly 550 buses in Bengaluru division and another 400 buses from other divisions kept ready for the transportation to the workers, he added.

He also said that on May 3 two trains left Bengaluru with nearly 4800 passengers for Bihar, Jharkhand.

Another train left the state for Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha.

On Monday, two more trains will be ran to Jaipur in Rajasthan and Patna in Bihar states with free food and water also provided to them, the statement added.
