Assam’s first COVID-19 patient discharged from hospital

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam’s first COVID-19 patient along with one more was discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

The patients were discharged from Silchar Medical College Hospital and Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital in Guwahati.

Assam’s first COVID-19 positive patient named 52-year-old Jalaluddin – a resident of Karimganj district was tested positive for COVID-19 on March 31 and he was shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital.

After fighting for more than a month, the 52-year-old patient tested negative and he was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.

The other COVID-19 patient was discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury hospital on Wednesday.

So far, 34 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals of the state.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Glad to share that two more #COVID19 patients, Jalaluddin (1st patient) & Motiur Tarapdar, have been discharged from SMCH & MMCH respectively, after three consecutive negative tests. Now the number of active cases in Assam is 9, with total 44 positive cases so far.”
