Uttar Pradesh: Truck turns turtle, two dead

Gorakhpur/UNI: Two people were killed while seven others sustained injuries when a truck carrying labourers from Hyderabad overturned in the Sahjanwa area of this Uttar Pradesh district on Monday.

Police sources here said that several labourers, hailing from Bariyarpur village in the Chowk police station area of Maharajganj, were returning to the district from Hyderabad in a truck.

Meanwhile, the driver lost control over the wheels and the truck turned turtle near Kasarwal in the Sahjanwa area, resulting in on the spot death of Parshuram Gaud (35) and Rahul Kevat (25). Seven other people were injured in the accident.

Following the accident, the driver and conductor of the vehicle fled from the spot and police is on the lookout for them.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital in Gorakhpur where four are stated to be critical. Police have seized the truck.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the death of the labourers/workers who were killed in the accident that took place in the Sahjanwa area. He has expressed his condolence with the bereaved families. The labourers were residents of Maharajganj.

Adityanath has directed that that the dependents of the deceased be provided a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakhs each while those critically injured should receive an amount of Rs 50,000 each. He also directed that the injured be given adequate and proper treatment.
