BSF seizes 30 kg ganja along Assam-West Bengal border

Guwahati/IBNS: The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel foiled attempts of ganja smuggling and seized huge quantity of ganja along Assam-West Bengal border on Monday.

In two separate operations, troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier seized 30 kg ganja in the bordering areas of Coohbehar district in West Bengal.

Acting on tip-off, troops of Border Out Post Gachtala, of 47 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a special operation in general area of Gachtala village under Sitalkuchi police station in Coochbehar district and seized three packets of ganja weighing about 15 kg wrapped with plastic.

Seized ganja was handed over to Sitalkuchi police for further legal action. 

In another operation, acting on tip-off, troops of Border Out Post Gomukh, 100 Bn BSF, carried out a special operation in general area of Dhumerkhata village Sitaipolice station and seized 3 packets of ganja weighing about 15 kg which were wrapped with plastic.               

Later, seized ganja was handed over to Sitai police station in Coochbehar district for further legal action.           

BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavours to contain such trans-border crimes.
