Covid: PM Modi announces Rs 20 lakh crore financial package to benefit all sections of society
New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a mega stimulus financial package worth Rs. 20 lakh crore to benefit all sections of the society amid the Covid-19 crisis. He also harped on self-reliance to build a new India that will dominate the world in 21st century while informing that a new kind of lockdown- lockdown 4.0- will take effect after May 17.
Modi said the package makes 10 per cent of the country's GDP.
The package will focus on land, labour, liquidiy and law.
"The package for all farmers as well as middle class people who pays income tax with honesty," said the PM.
Modi said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will give the details of the package.
"At this hour of crisis, only local market met our requirements. Times has taught we will have think for locals," said Modi.
"The global brands were also locals once but later became global. So all countrymen will have to be vocal for local," he added.
"Not only people should buy local products but also campaign for it," the PM said.
"All scientists are saying Coronavirus will remain in our lives for a longer time. But we will have to transcend. We will wear mask and maintain social distancing but also we will have achieve our targets," said Modi.
"All details about lockdown 4.0 will be given before May 18," said the PM.
But Modi said the lockdown 4.0 will be in "new colours".
He said, "We have to ensure that self-reliance of India will be our step towards making the 21st century a century of India."
