Jaunpur/UNI: A man was shot dead over a property dispute in the Khuthan area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, Rajesh Tiwari (52), a resident of Badsara village in the Khuthan area, had a dispute going on with his neighbour Krishna Dutt Tiwari since the past several years.

As Rajesh Tiwari was preparing to till a farm, both of them had an altercation over the matter. As the matter heated up, Krishna Dutt Tiwari's son Sonu Tiwari shot Rajesh with a country-made pistol.

He was taken to the Khuthan CHC from where he was referred to the district hospital. He died while on the way to the hospital. As tensions rose in the village owing to the incident, police have been deployed as a precautionary measure.

Three people, including Sonu Tiwari, have been taken into custody after registering a case into the matter on the basis of a complaint by the deceased's family members.
