COVID-19 cases surpass 22k mark in Gujarat, 38 die in last 24 hours

Gandhinagar/UNI: The total number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose to 22,067 with 513 new cases while the death toll surged to 1385 with 38 more deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the official bulletin of the health department, 25 of the deaths occurred in Ahmedabad, four in Surat and one each in Anand, Valsad, Aravalli, Bhavnagar, Banaskantha, Kheda, Morbi, Patan and Surendranagar districts.

The bulletin said that the first case of COVID-19 in the state was detected on March 19 in Rajkot while the first death was reported on March 22 in Surat where 90 deaths have been reported so far.

Ahmedabad has seen the maximum 1117 deaths, Vadodara 43, Gandhinagar 19, Panchmahal 13, Anand, Bhavnagar 12 each, Aravalli 11, Mahesana,Patan, Banaskantha eight each, Rajkot , Sabarkantha, Kutch , Kheda five each Bharuch four Jamanagar, Surendranagar, Valsad three each, Mahisagar, Porbandar, Botad, Amreli 2 each and one each in Junagadh Navsari and Morbi.

The bulletin further said that as many as 5573 cases are active now of which 61 have been on ventilator support.

As many as 366 people recovered during the last 24 hours taking the number of recoveries to 15109.

So far over 272924 tests have been conducted across the state while over two lakhs are in quarantine.

All the 33 districts in the western state have positive cases.
