Man gets 20 yrs Rigorous Imprisonment in rape case in Maharashtra

Nanded/UNI: A local court sentenced a man to 20 years Rigorous Imprisonment for raping a minor in Mukhed tehsil of the district.

The Additional district session judge Nitin Tribhuvan pronounced the judgement on Tuesday, slapping a fine of Rs 5,000 also.

According to police, a six year old girl, resident of Gayatri Colony in Mukhed town, was playing in front of the house on April 8, 2018. Taking undue advantage that nobody was around the accused Santosh Ram Ghogare (19) took her at his residence by luring for chocolates and biscuits and committed rape.

Following the incident the victim girl was bleeding hence she narrated the matter to her father. She was admitted at the government Civil Hospital Nanded.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the father of the victim girl, the Mukhed police arrested the accused and filed a case against the accused under section 376 (2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO).

On the basis of testimony of the victim girl, forensic report and testimony of the six witnesses the Judge pronounced his judgement, they added.
