Dynasty politics is illness, get rid of it: Modi at Poonch

India Blooms News Service | | 28 Nov 2014, 05:38 pm
Poonch, Nov 28 (IBNS): Taking a hit against dynasty politics in Jammu & Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the people of the state must overcome the illness in the ongoing election.
Modi was addressing a huge election rally in the Poonch sector of Jammu & Kashmir.

Terming dynasty politics as "bimari" or illness, he urged the people to get rid of it by voting for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Without naming ruling National Conference (NC) led by Chief Minister Pmar Abdullah, his father Farooq Abdullah, who had also his stint as CM of the state and People's Democratic Party (PDP) leaders  Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, Modi slammed them by saying, "'Baap-beta', 'Baap-Beti' - this is the ill plaguing Jammu and Kashmir. You must rid the state of this 'bimari'."

Modi asked, "How long does it take you to travel to Delhi? You need two days to go from here to Delhi. But how many years has a prime minister taken to get here?"

He said, It has taken a Prime Minister of India almost 40 years to come to Poonch.

PM reminded, "The last time, PM Morarji Desai came here. Today, I'm fortunate to be here. This Prime Minister is such that I have come to your state every month since taking office."

"Every Indian dreams of visiting Kashmir but if there are no railways, then how will people travel? If anyone has a right to the exchequer, it is the people here. The government's money should benefit the poor."

Modi said, "This isn't my first visit to Poonch. I was a BJP worker once and I have gone around this entire region in buses. I have broken bread, had tea with many families here."

Modi said, "Whenever I have come I have come with the intent and the message of development. I'm a 'pradhan sevak' who thinks your troubles are my troubles. I did not celebrate Diwali. I spent my Diwali with those who were affected by floods in this state. Today I've come for the first time to ask for something from you. And I have faith that I will not return empty handed."

Taking a dig at Congress and NC, PM said, "In the past 50 years, if the money that has come from Delhi was deposited in your bank accounts, you'd be amongst the richest citizens of India."

He urged the people to come out and vote. Modi said, "The people of J&K have, in the first phase itself, shown that democracy has won. You have shown that bullet can be defeated by the ballot; I congratulate you on behalf of 125 crore Indians. This election will go down as the election dedicated to the people of J&K."

Pleading to the crowd, Modi asked the people for a stable government.

He said, "Vote for a government which has full majority. I come to request you - form a BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir with complete majority. I promise you complete development."

" I want to appeal to the whole state, don't leave your work half done. We are asking for votes so that we are able to bring prosperity in your lives," he added.

Earlier, Modi attended an election campaign in Udhampur district.

There also he voiced for development.

Modi said, “The work which has not been done in past 30 years, I wish to do it in a span next 5 years. If I can’t U came and demand explanation from me,” Modi said urging people to form a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the Valley with full electoral majority.

The PM addressed a mammoth election rally at Udhampur amid ‘Modi Modi’ chant.

“I just need a chance to carry out development drive in the region. And for that I need your blessings to fulfill your dreams… The youth of our country needs employment. They want jobs. There is no other way but to bring development to the state,” he said.

He assured the people, that he will return in December.

Modi said:  “No PM would ever have come to the region every month. I shall again come here in December. But whenever I came, I came with a proper development blueprint for the people here.”

PM Modi said that loot and emotional blackmailing have become two key characteristics of the politicians in the Valley. They are playing with the sentiments of the local people.

“I will ensure that the funds released from Delhi reach out to the people in J&K…once former PM Rajiv Gandhi had said that only 15 percent of the Central funds reach the needy in the rural outskirts of India. Then who robbed this 85 percent of fund? Who has looted the money of the people?” he said.

Modi promised that he would not allow politicians of J&K to loot and emotionally blackmail people of the region.
