Jaipur/UNI: Nearly 32 kg of gold was seized from 14 passengers who returned from UAE and Saudi Arabia in two chartered flights at the Jaipur International Airport on Saturday.
According to sources, these passengers were stopped by the customs officials at the airport and on searching, 31.9918 kgs of gold was discovered concealed in baggage. The market value of the gold is estimated to be over Rs 15 crore.
Three of the passengers had returned in a Spicejet flight number SG-9055 from the UAE and gold worth more than Rs 4 crore were recovered from them in the form 12 gold rods and bricks of 9.339 kg.
From the 11 passengers who had arrived from Saudi Arabia, gold worth over Rs 11 crore in the form of 22.6528 kg of gold rods were seized.
The gold was confiscated under the Customs Act 1962, Section 110.
