Guwahati/UNI: The flood situation in Assam steadied with number of affected people and districts decreasing marginally, though the death toll continued to mount.
One deaths each were reported from Tinsukia and Morigaon districts in the last 24 hours, taking the overall toll to 37, Assam State Disaster Management Authority bulletin informed this evening.
The number of affected population has come down from over 13 lakh to 10,75,204 in the last 24 hours, while the affected district figure has also decreased to 18 from 20.
Altogether 43 revenue circles and 1412 villages and localities are still reeling under floods, while 53,348 hectares of crop area are under waters.
As many as 71 relief camps are operational, sheltering over 6,000 displaced people, while 100 relief distribution centres are also functioning.
Parts of Kaziranga National Park and Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park continued to remain under water.
Among the major rivers flowing above the danger level are Brahmaputra in Jorhat and Dhubri, Jia Bharali in Sonitpur and Kopili in Nagaon.
