Singer Richi Banna demands CBI inquiry in actor Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case
Pune/UNI: Eminent Bollywood singer and young leader of Rajput community Richi Banna on Sunday demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) into the suicide case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Talking to reporters at Lonavala near here, Banna said that he, along with his delegation of Karni Sena, met Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Saturday evening, urging him to order a CBI enquiry into Rajput's death, which still remained mysterious.
Mr Banna said there was a growing demand for a CBI inquiry into the death of Rajput, who allegedly committed suicide at his Mumbai residence on June 14.
He said that Sushant's father KK Singh wrote to the Ministry, demanding justice for his son. He has demanded CBI probe, Banna added.
''Sushant's soul is crying and demanding an investigation by the CBI. Sushant was very brave. I know him for long, since he was belonged to our community. He can never commit suicide,'' said Mr Banna the Bollywood singer.
''An attempt is being made to pass off his death as a suicide, though it is a murder. I request for a CBI inquiry into the entire matter, he added.
Sushant, a resident of Patna, allegedly committed suicide on June 14 at his flat in Bandra, Mumbai. Since then, various social and political organisations have been demanding CBI inquiry into his death, he said.
Sushant was said to be under stress and depression for some months. After his death, actress-politician Roopa Ganguly and actor Shekhar Suman have also been aggressively demanding a high-level inquiry into the case.
