Rs 2.22 lakh collected as fine from violators of lockdown regulations in Navi Mumbai
Thane/UNI: In a mega crackdown on violators of the lockdown regulations, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has collected a fine of Rs 2.22 lakh in the last three days, an official of the NMMC said on Tuesday.
The fine was collected from those who were not using a mask or following the social distancing norms.
Likewise, offences have been registered against six shopkeepers of Vashi for alleged violation of the lockdown orders, the official said.
In another development, the Mira-Bhayander Municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Rathod has vide an order stated that those violating the lockdown regulations would be fine first and in case of a repeat offence, then offences would be registered against them or would have to pay the double fine.
The order stated that not wearing the mask will attract a fine of Rs 500, spitting Rs 1,000, for not maintaining the social distance at shops the customer will be fined Rs 200 and in absence of markings outside the shop the sho keeper will be fined Rs. 2,000.
If the same person is found repeating the offence, then double the fine would be collected or will face criminal charges, the order stated.
