Panrui, Nov 29 (IBNS): After a calm for about a month, violence once again returned to Parui in West Bengal's Birbhum district.
The latest incident occurred in Chatarbandi village within Panrui P.S.

According to reports, armed miscreants attacked the Chatarbandi village on Friday night.

The assailants reportedly hurled bombs and robbed and lynched the houses before burning them down.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that the attackers were supporters of ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) party.

They claimed that the TMC-aided miscreants selectively destroyed BJP supporters' homes.

BJP's Birbhum district President Dudhkumar Mondal said that the attack was aimed to threaten, desist the party supporters from going to Amit Shah's rally in Kolkata on Sunday.

TMC on the other hand alleged that BJP was behind the attack.

The two parties traded charges against each other with the police.

The villagers alleged about police inactiveness during the attack.

Panic struck among the residents of Chatarbandi village.

It may be mentioned here that, violent clashes erupted between villagers and armed miscreants broke out in Makhra village, also under Panrui last month which resulted in the death of 3 persons and left over a dozen injured.

The miscreants entered the village and hurled bombs, fired gunshots, burnt and ransacked houses.

The villagers also retaliated to the attacks.

That time also, the villagers claimed that police remained inactive throughout the violence.

The victims were identified as Tausif Sheikh, Sheikh Mozzameil and Sulaiman Sheikh.

The incident occurred three days after miscreants attacked police personnel and injured the Officer-in Charge of Parui PS by hurling bombs during a raid at Panrui.
