Assam : Explosion at Baghjan oil field leaves three foreign experts injured
Guwahati/IBNS : Three foreign experts, who were engaged in capping of gas well number 5 of Baghjan oil field in Assam’s Tinsukia district, were injured in an explosion at the gas well on Wednesday.
The incident happened at the Baghjan gas well number 5 of Oil India Limited where fire is raging since June 9 after gas blowout.
A top official of Oil India Limited said the blast occurred when the experts were on their way to open the spool of the well before putting up the blow out preventer (BOP).
Three experts from Singapore based firm Alert Disaster Control – Anthony Steven Reynolds, Doug Dallas and Craig Neil Duncan were injured in the blast.
They are part of the six-member expert team engaged in efforts to douse the fire at the well.
The injured persons were rushed to Assam Medical College Hospital, Dibrugarh.
It is to be mentioned that, two fire fighters of Oil India Limited died in the fire incident at the gas well on June 9.
