Kolkata/IBNS: CPI-M Politburo member and former MP from West Bengal's Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency, Md. Salim, on Monday tested positive for novel coronavirus.

The senior Left leader has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata's EM Bypass area in a stable condition.

"I have tested positive for Coronavirus with very mild symptoms but I got myself admitted into a hospital as per the advice of my attending doctor. This decision also aims at avoiding all kinds of risks of infection amongst my friends, family & neighbours," Md. Salim tweeted.

Earlier, three Left leaders, Shyamal Chakraborty, Anadi Sahoo and Fuad Halim, had tested positive for Covid-19 and they are reportedly recovering well in different hospitals in the city.
