Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli greets PM Modi on 74th Independence Day
New Delhi/UNI: Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday called up his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and extended greetings on India’s 74th Independence Day.
PM Oli also congratulated him for India’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“Prime Minister received a telephone call today from KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal. He greeted the Government and People of India on the occasion of its 74th Independence Day, and also conveyed congratulations for India’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement here.
PM Modi and PM Oli expressed mutual solidarity in the context of the efforts being made to minimise the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in both countries.
PM Modi also offered India’s continued support to Nepal in this regard.
He further thanked him for his telephone call and recalled the civilizational and cultural links that India and Nepal share.
It is pertinent to mention here that India and Nepal are having strain ties following the issuance of a new map by the Nepal government including parts of Indian territory.
