Raj Bhavan under surveillance, alleges West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar
Kolkata/UNI/IBNS: Reigniting the enmity with the Mamata Banerjee government, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar fired a salvo alleging that the Raj Bhavan is "under surveillance".
''It’s with a heavy heart I am telling you that Raj Bhavan is under surveillance. It should never happen. How can Raj Bhavan, the office of the constitutional head, be under surveillance? This action undermines the sanctity of the institution," Mr Dhankhar stated.
Earlier, he said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the officials of her Government have set a bad precedent by not attending Saturday's "At Home" reception hosted on Independence Day at Raj Bhavan.
Terming it as another painful instance of distancing from Constitution, Mr Dhankhar noted, " CM and executive @MamataOfficial set bad precedent by not attending. "

" It would have been befitting if CM and officials @MamataOfficial had participated. Their action not in sync with sanctity of occasion, " he said." Absence of CM and officials @MamataOfficial on occasion of Independence Day celebration at Raj Bhawan has like many startled and stunned me, " he added."We need to rise to occasion as respect to freedom fighters who gave their all to secure for us freedom and democracy. I am at loss of words, " the Governor said.
" The vacant seat meant for CM @MamataOfficial at celebration of Independence Day at Raj Bhawan speaks volumes - has created unwholesome situation that is not in sync with rich culture and ethos of WB. "" There is just no rationale for this unbecoming stance," Mr Dhankhar stated.
Earlier, an unprecedented letter war had raged between the West Bengal Chief Minister and the Governor over Covid-19 management and other issues.
