Patna/IBNS: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said he hopes the truth about the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput will come out soon as the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of onscreen Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

"Today, the action taken by the Bihar Police on the case filed by the Honorable Supreme Court in Patna by the father of Sushant Singh Rajput and the decision of the Bihar government to hand over the case to the CBI has been legalized and justified," tweeted Kumar.

He added, "Some people wanted to give it political form while the state government believed that it is related to justice. I am confident that after the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the CBI will investigate the matter as soon as possible and justice will be found soon."

Sushant, who was born in Bihar, had committed suicide at his own flat in Mumbai's Bandra on Jun 14.

Supreme Court orders CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death

The top court has held the Bihar government's recommendation of a CBI probe into Sushant's death valid.

Though the Mumbai Police were probing into the suicide, Sushant's father KK Singh lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with Bihar Police alleging that Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had siphoned off Rs 15 crore from his son's account and other accounts of companies floated with his investments.

As per the recommendation by the Bihar government, the death case was handed over to the CBI by the central government.

However, Rhea, who had earlier requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry into his late boyfriend's death, wanted the case to be transferred to Mumbai Police.

The suicide has created a ripple effect with several actors and netizens calling out Bollywood biggies for encouraging nepotism, allegedly leading Sushant to commit suicide.

Reacting to the Supreme Court's order of CBI probe into Sushant's death, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey said, "I have full faith now that the truth will come out now. It is not about me or Bihar Police."

"Today the Supreme Court has agreed that Bihar Police was taking the right decisions," he added.
