CBI begins probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, questions actor's staff member
Mumbai/IBNS: India's prime investigation agency on Friday began its probe into late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, questioning the Bollywood star's staff member and meeting the Mumbai cops, media reports said.
Besides questioning the staff member, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has collected the case records including the post-mortem report of the actor from Mumbai Police.
A 10-member team, headed by Superintendent of Police Nupur Prasad, reached Mumbai last night.
Sushant's cook has also been questioned by the probe agency.
Sushant, who was born in Bihar, had committed suicide at his own flat in Mumbai's Bandra on Jun 14.
Though the Mumbai Police were probing into the suicide, Sushant's father KK Singh lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with Bihar Police alleging that Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had siphoned off Rs 15 crore from his son's account and other accounts of companies floated with his investments.
As per the recommendation by the Bihar government, the death case was handed over to the CBI by the central government.
However, Rhea, who had earlier requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry into his late boyfriend's death, wanted the case to be transferred to Mumbai Police.
Turning down Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty's plea, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a CBI inquiry into the death of onscreen Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The suicide has created a ripple effect with several actors and netizens calling out Bollywood biggies for encouraging nepotism, allegedly leading Sushant to commit suicide.
