New Delhi/UNI: Attacking the NDA government at the Centre over its decision to hold JEE and NEET examinations amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that any decision in this regard should be taken after a conversation with the students and arriving at a consensus.

In video posted on social media, as part of the Congress online campaign 'SpeakUpForStudentSafety' against the decision of the Central Government to hold NEET and JEE examinations amid the Covid pandemic, Gandhi wondered as to why should students be be held responsible for failure of the government to hold examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

''Everybody understands the mishandling of Covid-19, the devastation caused and the economic destruction and the pain that the country has had to bear in the last few months.
What I don't understand is that why should you(students) be held responsible and why should further pain be imposed in you. Why should the government force anything on you? Any decision made in regard to exams should be taken after conversation with the students and arriving at a consensus.,''Rahul said in the video. (sic)

''NEET-JEE aspirants’ safety should not be compromised due to the failures of the Govt.Govt must listen to all stakeholders and arrive at a consensus,'' Rahul said in a tweet.

The Congress is opposing the government decision to hold these exams during the Covid pandemic as it put lakhs of students at risk .
