Government's intervention, influence in NEP 2020 should be minimal: PM Modi
New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the National Education Policy 2020 was key to fulfil the nation's aspirations but government's intervention and influence should be minimal in this.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Governors’ Conference on National Education Policy through video conferencing here, he said, "The NEP will prepare the youth of the country with knowledge and skills as per the future requirements."
Stating that the government was striving to make India a knowledge economy in the 21st century, he said the new education policy has paved the way for tackling the brain drain and also for setting up the best international institutions on campus in India for the youth of ordinary families.
"In this policy, more than process, emphasis is given on passion, practicality and performance," he said, adding, "It would prepare the youth of the country with knowledge and skills as per the future requirements."
The more teachers, parents, and students were involved in the policy, the more its relevance and comprehensiveness increased, he added.
Education Ministers of all states, Vice-Chancellors of state universities and other senior officials will be attending today's conference titled, "Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education" is being organised by the Ministry of Education.
