Rajasthan clamps Sec 144 in 11 districts after Covid-19 cases surge
Jaipur/UNI: In view of the rising covid-19 cases in the state, Rajasthan government on Sunday imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in 11 districts to prohibit any presence or movement of one or more persons in public places.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took the decision during a late Saturday night review meeting on Covid-19 situation, a statement said here on Sunday.
It was decided to impose Section 144 in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Udaipur, Sikar, Pali, and Nagaur.
The collectors of the respective districts will issue orders in this regard.
In public places, people will have to follow the Covid-19 guidelines including wearing face masks and keeping social distancing.
According to the statement, the government also decided to continue the ban on social or religious functions till October 31.
The restriction of 20 people at funerals and 50 in marriage functions will continue, it said.
Health Minister Raghu Shrma, Chief Secretary Rajeeva Swarup, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Akhil Arora among other officials were present in the meeting.
