Guwahati/IBNS: Assam Police have arrested 19 persons so far in connection with the Sub-Inspector recruitment examination paper leak in Guwahati.

Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Monday said that 19 persons were arrested so far and Assam police will announce bounties to catch an Ex-DIG and a BJP leader for their alleged involvement in the entire question paper leak matter.

Ex-DIG PK Dutta and BJP leader Diban Deka are absconding since Sept 20.

“Both PK Dutta and Diban Deka are now absconding and the Assam police have decided to announce a reward for nabbing them,” the Assam DGP said.

The Sub-Inspector recruitment examination was scheduled on Sept 20 and the examination was cancelled after the question paper was leaked through WhatsApp.

Addressing a press conference held in Guwahati in presence of senior police official, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said that, the CID has so far arrested four persons while the crime branch of Guwahati city police has nabbed nine persons and Nalbari district police have arrested six persons.

Meanwhile, Assam police have issued a lookout notice against Ex-DIG PK Dutta so that he can’t leave the country.

On Sunday, State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) Chairman Pradeep Kumar had resigned from the post by taking moral responsibility for the irregularities.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed DGP to take appropriate action against those persons who involved in the irregularities.
