Nanded/UNI:  Five members of a family have allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Sahastrakund waterfall near Murli village in Yavatmal district of Vidarbha.

Two days ago the deceased -- Pravin Bhagwanrao Gavankar (45), his wife Ashwini (38), daughters Sejal (20) and Samiksha (14) and son Siddheshwar (13) -- went to the waterfall by a hired four-wheeler saying his brother-in-law Pravin would meet there and then they would go to his house in Vidarbha, police said.

However, they allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Sahastrakund waterfall near Murali village in Yavatmal district, the border district.

The body of Pravin was recovered near Islapur while that of Ashwini and Siddhesh at Daradi village in Himayat Nagar tehsil on Thursday.

Bodies of Samiksha and Sejal are yet to be traced, sources added.

As per reports, Pravin's father, Bhagwanrao Gavankar, is a reputed grocery merchant at Hadgaon and there was a dispute between his two sons Pravin and Prashant over the property.

Fed up with the dispute, the elder son Pravin along with his entire family committed suicide, reports said.
