NIA arrests Stan Swamy from Ranchi in connection with Bhima Koregaon case

New Delhi/UNI: The anti-terror probe agency NIA on Thursday night arrested a CPI (Maoist) member Stan Swamy from Ranchi who was in touch with the accused arrested in Bhima Koregaon case, the probe agency officials said here on Friday.

According to NIA officials, he was an active Member of this proscribed organization and he has also received funds through an associate for furtherance of the CPI (Maoist) activities.

“Swamy is a convenor of PPSC, frontal organizations of CPI (Maoist). The documents related to communications for furthering the activities of CPI (Maoist) and propaganda material of the CPI (Maoist) and literature were seized from his possession”, they said.

The agency officials also said that he was found to be in contact with some of the conspirators namely Sudhir Dhawale, Rona Wilson, Surendra Gadling, Arun Ferreira, Vernon Gonsalves, Hany Babu, Shoma Sen, Mahesh Raut, Varavara Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj, Gautam Navlakha and Anand Teltumbde for the furtherance of its activities.

National Investigation Agency is taking him to Mumbai and he will be produced before NIA Court and will seek his judicial custody for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, the NIA has filed a charge-sheet against eight accused Anand Teltumbde, Gautam Navlakha, Heny Babu, Sagar Gorkhe, Ramesh Gaichor, Jyoti Jagtap, Stan Swamy and Milind Teltumbde in Bhima Koregaon case in NIA Special Court Mumbai on Friday, a senior agency's official said here.
