Jammu and Kashmir: One terrorist killed in Anantnag encounter
Srinagar: At least one terrorist was killed during an encounter with security forces in Larnoo area of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday, officials said.
One unidentified militant was killed by security forces in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Saturday, a police spokesman told UNI.
He said a CASO was launched by Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF in village Larnoo in Anantnag in the wee hours following a tip off about the presence of militants.
However, when the security forces were conducting house-to-house searches, militants hiding there opened fire, they said adding the fire was retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
The identity of the terrorist is still not known.
Security personnel are carrying out searches in the region.
