Karnataka's Shivamogga airport will be ready for operation by Jan 2022: BS Yediyurappa

Shivamogga/UNI: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa on Monday said that the Shivamogga Airport works which are under progress now will be completed by Dec 2021 and flight operation will take place in Jan or Feb 2022.

Speaking to newsmen after inspecting the airport works on Monday, he said that approval has been received to build a 3200 mts runway so that it can handle Airbus.

Additional Rs. 75 crores will be allocated in the next budget, he added.

Yediyurappa said that the state government will appeal to the union government to include Shivamogga airport under the UDAAN scheme which will benefit the common man.

Referring to those who lost their land for the airport, he said that they will be suitably compensated.

After completion of the airport economic development of the district will gear up as it will help in the establishment of more industries, he added.
