Srinagar/UNI: Expressing deep concern over the rising incidents of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), Apni Party (AP) president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday pleaded for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the two neighbouring countries.

Bukhari was addressing prominent political activists from Srinagar, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts after they joined AP at its office in Lal Chowk Srinagar.

He observed that the cross border shelling in Uri, Keran, Dawar, Nowgam and other forward areas in North Kashmir that has resulted in huge loss of lives on Friday has turned the situation grim especially for border residents.

Bukhari said that the inhabitants of border areas are the worst sufferers of the hostility and bitter relations between the two neighboring countries and the government of India must take all the measures including speedy construction of concrete bunkers to ensure the safety and security of their lives and properties.

On this occasion, prominent political activists like Syed Mohammad Ashraf Andrabi, Syed Mudasir Andrabi from district Kupwara, Tariq Ahmad Ganaie and a number of his associates from Shalpora district Ganderbal and Raja Aftab from Rawalpora district Srinagar joined AP.

Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, AP Bukhari observed that the new entrants will infuse a new spirit in the party cadre in their respective areas.

Speaking on this occasion, the new entrants affirmed to contribute to strengthening of the party at its grassroots level so as to redress the grievances of the people.
