Bihar: Nitish elected leader of JD(U), NDA legislature parties; Sushil Modi elected leader of BJP legislature party
Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Sunday formally elected leader of JD(U) and NDA legislature parties and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi was elected as the leader of the legislative party of BJP.
Mr Kumar was elected leader of JD(U) legislature party at its meeting held at 1 Anne Marg, his official residence.
All newly elected MLAs of JD(U), senior leaders of the party and MLCs were present in the meeting where Mr Kumar was formally elected leader of JD(U) legislature party.
Mr Kumar was also elected the leader of NDA legislature party at its meeting also held at 1 Anne Marg, soon after.
After being formally elected, leader of NDA legislature party, Mr Kumar would call on Governor Fagu Chauhan to stake claim for formation of the new government.
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh was present as the observer to facilitate the process of of election of NDA legislature party.
He was to attend the meeting of BJP legislature party for election of its leader but the venue was shifted from BJP state headquarters to 1 Anya Marg.
Sushil Modi was formally elected as leader of the BJP legislature party at its meeting in which all newly-elected MLAs of the party were present.
BJP MLCs and senior leaders of the party including Bhupendra Yadav, Devendra Fadnavis, state JD(U) president Sanjay Jaiswal were among others present in the meeting.
