At least 14 newborns die in Chhattisgarh hospital since December 1
Earlier, CIMS came to the focal point of controversy last month after as many as 13 women died in botched sterilisation drive in Bilaspur. They were all treated there at the state-run hospital.
The family members blamed the hospital authorities, sources said.
Chhattisgarh health minister Amar Agrawal gave a clean chit to the hospital. He said: “The divisional collector and I investigated the infant deaths in Bilaspur. The doctors are not at fault and proper medical treatment was given to the infants.”
Chief Minister Raman Singh, however, admitted that the problem lies with the hospital.
“I feel something there is definitely lacking in the hospital. And the administration may have rectified the issue and in referral cases there are chances of casualty,” Singh told NDTV.
