New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on Tuesday said a proposal to allow local lockdown at markets, which may emerge as COVID hotspots, has been sent to the Centre as the virus cases are surging.

Addressing a digital press conference, Kejriwal said the Delhi government has also sent a proposal to the Lieutenant Governor to permit only 50 people to attend wedding functions, against the earlier limit of 200.

Mr Kejriwal thanked the Centre for providing 750 additional ICU beds for the treatment of COVID patients in Delhi.

He appealed to the people of Delhi to wear masks and follow social distancing norms to protect themselves from the virus.
