Boeing 737 MAX Washington/ New Delhi/IBNS: Boeing 737 MAX jet can fly again after US Federal Aviation Administration's approval after nearly two years of pause following two fatal disasters, said media reports.
The FAA has published software upgrades and training changes which Boeing must introduce in order for it to resume commercial flights after a period of 20-months, the longest grounding in the history of commercial aviation.
At least 346 people lost their lives in 737 MAX crashed in Indonesia and Ethiopia in a span of five months in 2018 and 2019.
However, India's aviation watchdog DGCA will study the FAA's decision before allowing the Boeing 737 MAX planes to fly in the Indian skies, said media reports.
In India, only SpiceJet and currently-grounded Jet Airways had a fleet of these planes. According to reports, SpiceJet's 13 such planes were grounded in 2019.
SpiceJet, in its September quarter results on November 11, stated that it is continuing to bear various costs in connection with 13 grounded MAX planes.
