Puri: Jagannath Temple servitor files complaint against Amazon for selling "Nirmalya" online

Puri/UNI: A servitor of the Shri Jagannath Temple, Puri n Sunday lodged a complain with the police against online marketplace Amazon for unauthorised sale of "Nirmalya Mahaprasad" of lord Jagannath in its marketing network.

Shambhunath Khuntia, the Servitor, lodged a complaint with the Singhadwar Police seeking action against the marketing agency.

Earlier, selling of Nirmalya by a Bhubaneswar based online marketing agency was stopped after temple administration filed complaints against a number of persons.

When contacted Jeetendra Kumar Sahu, the administrator rituals of Sri Jagannath temple said as per record of rights , only the Suaras (temple cooks) are authorised to sell Nirmalya Mahaprasad at the Simhadwar Aruna Stambh area.

We are consulting legal experts to take action to stop this, he added.

An advertisement by the Amazon said free delivery of Nirmalya will be made on payment of Rs 370.

Devotees pleaded with the administration to stop this kind of marketing of Mahaprasad.
