Bengal: BJP sends show cause notice to Agnimitra Paul for 'anti-party' remarks
Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday sent a show cause notice to its women's wing president Agnimitra Paul for "anti-party" remarks.
Though the reason for the notice has not been mentioned by the party in the letter, it is widely speculated that Paul has been showcaused for making remarks on the entry of a former Trinamool Congress leader.
"It has been observed that on 18th December, 2020 you have ventured to give bytes to the electronic media, which constitute derogatory and anti Party statements reflecting severe anti Organisation sentiments which go directly against decisions taken by the Party," the letter reads.
Earlier BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu was also sent a similar notice.
Both Basu and Paul had expressed dissatisfaction over the rumour that former Trinamool man and an MLA from Pandaveswar, Jitendra Tiwari, might join the BJP.
BJP Lok Sabha MP Babul Supriyo, an arch rival of Tiwari, had also said he would try to ensure that the former Asansol Mayor does not join the saffron brigade.
However, later Tiwari had made a U-turn and said he would continue to work under West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee.
