TMC now run like a company, ashamed that I was part of it for 21 yrs : Shuvendu Adhikari
Kolkata/IBNS: Former Trinamool Congress strongman and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has said he is ashamed of his 21 years in Mamata Banerjee's party as it has now lost discipline and is being run like a "company", adding that his new objective is to help BJP win the 2021 Bengal assembly elections.
He asserted that only a BJP government in Bengal and working in cooperation with a BJP government at the Centre can ensure the state's economic development and resolve unemployment issues.
Adhikari, who switched to the saffron party earlier this month, said West Bengal needed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance to move forward in the path of progress.
He added that it is for Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee that people could live in the state, indicating that it would have gone to Pakistan during the partition in 1947 had it not been for Mukherjee's relentless efforts to prevent the present West Bengal and some other parts from slipping out of India's control.
In his address, Adhikari described BJP as a "pluralist, disciplined and patriotic party" and said he is now a part of the largest political party in the world.
He declared that his current objective is to help BJP win the 2021 assembly polls and help build the "Sonar Bangla" of everyone's dreams.
He accused the Trinamool Congress of depriving 73 lak farmers of the state with PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi policy, a Central government scheme whereby the farmers are given an income support of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding/ownership of up to 2 hectares.
The former Nandigram MLA further accused the TMC of beating BJP activists and framing them in false cases. He also said at least 135 party workers were killed to lead the party's ascent in the state.
