AAP to contest elections in six states, four of them BJP ruled
New Delhi/IBNS: The Aam Aadmi Party will contest elections in six states that go to polls in 2022, party chief Arvind Kejriwal said at its Ninth National Council meeting on Thursday.
The party will field candidates in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, Kejriwal said while accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which rules four of the six states, of planting its stooge to derail the tractor rally.
He also pushed for action against those who caused violence during the January 26 tractor rally.
Kejriwal also said his party will boycott the President's joint address of both the houses of parliament tomorrow. The Budget session of parliament will start from Friday and the government will table the annual Budget of Feb 1.
While regretting the violence in the tractor rally he said the party and the people that triggered the violence should be punished.
He said the agitation must continue and yesterday's incident doesn't mean the end of the protests.
Kejriwal also urged his party workers to approach the protesting farmers without their party caps as fellow citizens.
