West Bengal: Major reshuffle in IPS Cadre before assembly polls, Soumen Mitra appointed new Kolkata CP
Kolkata/IBNS: In a major reshuffle, the West Bengal government on Saturday transferred 22 IPS officials, including Kolkata Police Commissioner, and two senior WBPS officers, months ahead of assembly polls in the state.
According to reports, Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma has been replaced by another IPS official Soumen Mitra, who was earlier posted as ADG & IGP (Training) of state police.
Anuj Sharma has been appointed as ADG & IGP of West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
He has replaced Siddh Nath Gupta, who has been transferred as ADG & IGP, South Bengal.
Jawed Shamim, who is currently posted as Special CP-1of Kolkata Police, will be replacing Gyanwant Singh as the ADG & IGP (Law & Order) of the state police force.
Gyanwant Singh has been appointed as ADG & IGP, AP, WB.
CP of Howrah Police Commissionerate- Kunal Agarwal, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate's CP- Mukesh, and Barrackpore Police Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Verma, have been replaced by C. Sudhakar, Supratim Sarkar, and Ajay Kumar Nand respectively.
Meanwhile, few more IPS officials and two WBPS have been transferred in this reshuffle.
