Kolkata/IBNS: Cornering the Trinamool Congress government with few weeks left for the West Bengal elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee didn't implement the Centre's scheme for farmers due to her ego.

In an outreach campaign to the farmers at Shahpur, Malda, Nadda said, "Mamata Didi has done a lot of injustice with West Bengal. Mamata Didi due to her ego and stubborn nature did not allow this scheme to be implemented in West Bengal due to which around 70 lakh farmers were deprived of the benefits of this scheme."

"I pledge to you and I assure the farmers of West Bengal that after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) firms its government in the state, we will work to provide benefits to farmers and ensure that they are not left out. The party will also work towards increasing their income."

The Mamata Banerjee government had stalled the Centre's Krishak Samman Nidhi scheme citing a similar scheme by the State was already in place.

However very recently, the state government has agreed with the scheme to run in the state.

"Mamata Didi, it’s too late for you now as West Bengal elects are closing in but Mamata Didi has not submitted the list of farmers along with their bank accounts to the central government yet," Nadda said, giving fuel to the BJP's poll campaign.

Slamming Banerjee and her parliamentarian nephew Abhishek Banerjee, the de facto number two in the Trinamool, Nadda said, "The people of West Bengal have made up their mind to say bye-bye to Pisi (Bua) - Bhaipo (nephew). They have decided to teach a lesson to rice robbers and pandal thieves. The people of this state know who is stealing rice and who is tirpol chor."

In an aim to mobilise the party cadres and reach out to common people, Nadda on Saturday flagged-off his party's Rath Yatra, dubbed as Parivartan Yatra by the BJP, at Nabadwip.
