“Sasikala will continue legal battle to regain control over AIADMK,” says TTV Dhinakaran
Chennai/UNI: V.K.Sasikala, former interim General Secretary of AIADMK and close aide of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha would continue her legal battle and engage in a democratic way to regain her control over the party said her nephew and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V.Dhinakaran on Tuesday.
Talking to media here, he said now that Sasikala has come out (prison), steps would be taken to expedite the legal process for hearing over a petition filed by Sasikala at the Madras High Court challenging the conduct of the AIADMK general council in which she was sidelined.
On the possibility of the merger of AMMK with the AIADMK, he said the primary objective of launching the AMMK is to redeem the AIADMK and to form genuine Amma’s (Jayalalitha) rule.
"All efforts will be made to prevent the DMK from coming back to power," Dhinakaran said.
To a query about reports that the BJP may play a role in the merger of AMMK with the AIADMK, he replied that he had no information about any party seeking to mediate between the two parties.
Answering a query, whether Sasikala would contest the upcoming assembly elections, he said as of date, there may not be chances for her to contest.
"But still there is time and legally, there are chances for her to contest the elections by approaching the court. I am a positive thinker and I hope she will contest the elections,' he said.
Dhinakaran said he will contest again from R.K.Nagar assembly constituency from where he was elected in December 2017 and also another constituency in Theni district (home turf of Deputy Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam).
He said actor Rajinikanth had spoken to him and enquired the health of Sasikala.
