Ahmedabad/UNI: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has been found infected with Coronavirus.

64-year-old Rupani had complained of weakness, fatigue and dizziness during his trip to Vadodara on Sunday after which in the late evening he was admitted to the privately run UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center in Asarwa area of Ahmedabad.

According to the health bulletin of the chief minister issued by the Director of the institute, RK Patel, Mr Rupani tested positive for Covid 19 after RT-PCR test on Monday.

''His HRCT THORAX, IL-6, D-DIMER and Oxygen saturation parameters are normal. His situation is stable,'' the bulletin said.

Notably CM Rupani had gone into self-quarantine in April last year after holding a meeting attended among others by a Congress MLA who was later tested positive for coronavirus infection. However, he had escaped the infection then.

He has been found infected at the time when several important local body polls being termed as the 'semi-finals' before the next year's state assembly polls, are just around the corner.

According to the state health department figures the total number of active corona infection cases in the state have dipped below 1750.

Close to eight lakh doses of corona vaccines have also been administered in the state so far.
