Restrictions imposed on gathering of people in Pune to prevent Covid-19 spread: Collector
Pune/UNI: With a sudden rise in fresh coronavirus cases in Maharashtra's Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, the district administration on Thursday ordered for stricter implementation of Covid-related rules and guidelines.
The decision of stricter implementation of the guidelines on the corona was taken in a review meeting convened by divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao in the district after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray interacted with state officials through video conference.
Pune district collector Rajesh Deshmukh said, “Instructions have been issued to both the Municipal Corporations and the rural areas to strictly implement the guidelines for prevention of the spread of coronavirus infection. However, restrictions will be imposed, if these guidelines are not strictly followed.”
“Currently, there is a restriction on the gathering of people in the district. Therefore, citizens will not be able to crowd in public places. However, no curfew has been imposed in the district,” he pointed.
He said, “Even though the number of corona patients is increasing in Pune, there is no reason to worry. The number of tests will be increased. Currently, an average of 6,000 citizens are being tested. This number will increase to about 10,000.”
Deshmukh further said that orders have been issued to launch a crackdown on people not wearing masks.
“The area where the patient is found will be surveyed. Also, the citizens who came in contact with the patients will be traced,” added the collector.
