Kanniyakumari/UNI: Kickstarting his party’s campaign for the April 6 Assembly elections and the Lok Sabha bypolls in Kanniyakumari, senior BJP leader Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday expressed confidence that the AIADMK-BJP combine would win the upcoming polls.

Launching the 'Vetri Kodi Eandhi', a door-to-door campaign,he said the party would win the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll and that the NDA would win the Assembly elections and form the government in Tamil Nadu.

He exuded confidence that a NDA-led coalition government will come to power in the State after the Assembly polls.

Canvassing votes for former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, who was fieled by the BJP for the Kanniyakumari LS bypoll seat, Mr Amit Shah, accompanied by BJP State Unit President L Murugan and senior leaders, said he visited 11 houses to “convey Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message.”

“We have started the campaign to take the BJP’s Lotus symbol door-to-door,” he said and appealed to the people to elect Mr Radhakrishnan as the party “needs him”.

He said on seeing the excitement and enthusiasm of the people he was sure about the outcome of the polls that NDA would win the elections,

As part of the road show, Mr Shah also distributed pamphlets,
interacted with people and also took pictures with them.

Earlier, Mr Shah, on his arrival from Thiruvanathapuram by a
helicopter, offered worship to Lord Thanumalaya Swamy at
the famous Suchindram temple and launched his campaign
'Vetri Kodi Eandhi' (Vijay Sankalp Mahasampark Abhiyaan--a
door-to-door campaign) and also held a 'Vetri Kodi Eanthi'
(carrying the flag of victory) Road Show from Hindu College
to Veppamoodu Kamaraj statue.

As per the seat sharing agreement, the AIADMK, which is
heading the Front, allotted 20 Assembly seats to the BJP
and the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha seat, where bypoll was
necessitated following the death of H Vasanthakumar of
Congress due to coronavirus.

Soon after inking the seat-sharing pact, the BJP wasted no
time in announcing Mr Pon Radhakrishnan as its nominee
for the LS seat in view of Mr Amit Shah's visit.

Mr Pon Radhakrishnan was twice elected from this seat
in 2009 and 2014 before losing to Mr Vasanthakumar by
a margin of more than 2.5 lakh votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha
polls.
