Ravneet Singh Bittu becomes new leader of opposition in Parliament
New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader and Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has been appointed the leader of opposition for the ongoing budget session in place of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Chowdhury is the chief of West Bengal Congress and will be busy in the West Bengal assembly elections where Congress has stitched an alliance with the Left Front.
Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh who was assassinated in 1995.
A three time MP, Bittu was appointed the whip of the Congress in the Lok Sabha in August.
Media reports said he will be responsible for strategising Congress' move in the lower house of Parliament as deputy leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha as Gaurav Gogoi, who is the deputy leader in Lok Sabha, will be tied up with election campaigning in Assam.
