Rajya Sabha adjourned twice amid opposition uproar during NCT Bill debate
New Delhi/UNI: The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday adjourned twice following the continuous uproar by the opposition members on the NCT Bill 2021 which was introduced in the Upper House on Tuesday.
Soon after the House returned the Finance` Bill 2021 after discussion to the Lok Sabha, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said that the NCT Bill will be taken for discussion.
Describing an undemocratic and undermining authority of the elected Government, the opposition started ranting against the Government.
Leader of the opposition Mallikarjun Kharge asked that "Four amendments through this Bill have a provision to declare LG as the government, what is the point of elections then?"
The AAP Member Sanjay Singh, who gave notice to the chair on this Bill, insisted the Chair to listen to him first. The Chair allowed him to speak.
Sanjay Singh said, "I am here to seek justice for 2 crore people of Delhi. You will exist if the constitution is intact. 239 AA says Delhi Cabinet will be answerable to the people of Delhi. Whatever is written in the Constitution, you are changing it with a simple act? Your bill is wrong. They are saying L-G means government."
Chairman Harivansh allowed the discussion on the Bill which was initiated amid din but the sloganeering and ruckus continued in the House.
The Deputy Chairman adjourned the House till 6PM and later for 10 more minutes.
