Who will get vaccinated when there is none? Delhi HC slams Centre over dialer tune
New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi High Court on Thursday slammed the central government for asking people to get vaccinated through a dialer tune when there is an acute shortage of vaccine across the country, media reports said.
A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said as quoted by NDTV, "You have been playing that one irritating message on the phone whenever one makes a call, for we do not know how long, that you (people) should have the vaccination, when you (Centre) don't have enough vaccine.
"You are not vaccinating people, but you still say that vaccination lagavaiye (get vaccinated). Kaun lagayega vaccination (who will get vaccinated), when there is no vaccination. What is the point of the message."
"You should give it to everyone. Even if you are going to take money, give it. That is what even children are saying," the bench said.
The court said the government should prepare and run more such tapes with variations instead of running the same.
The high court has also suggested television anchors or producers create programmes on awareness about oxygen concentrators and cylinders or on the vaccination drive and run them on channels.
It said celebrities like actor Amitabh Bachchan can be roped in to spread awareness and send the message across the country.
Last year during the first wave of Covid-19, Bachchan had featured in advertisements focussing on how to wash hands and follow Covid protocols to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
