NIA Chief visits Assam's Kokrajhar district

Guwahati, Jan 8 (IBNS): National Investigation Agency (NIA) Chief Sharad Kumar on Thursday visited several areas in Assam's Kokrajhar district and reviewed the investigation process by the agency of the massacre by NDFB(S) militants in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar district, which left at least 80 adivasi people dead and rendered more than two lakh homeless.

A top official of the investigation agency said that the NIA Chief visited Ultapani, Lungchung, Pakhriguri area in the district and took part in a crucial meeting with the top NIA and police officials.

Sharad Kumar visited Dhekiajuli and Biswanath Chariali area in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.

During his three day visit to Assam, the NIA Chief also participated in meetings with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Assam Police DGP Khagen Sarma in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The NIA had registered four cases in connection with the recent massacre by NDFB(S) militants in Assam.
