New Delhi/IBNS: A screenshot of the video, in which Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar and his friends are seen brutally beating a fellow wrestler Sagar Dhankar has surfaced. The victim, who is seen lying on the ground, later died of the injuries in a hospital and Kumar went into hiding but was arrested Sunday last.

The Delhi Police arrested India's two-time Olympic medal-winning wrestler for the Dhankar's murder from Mundka area in the national capital.

As Kumar remained untraceable, police had to declare a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information on his whereabouts.

His associate, Ajay Kumar, who is also an accused in the murder case, was also arrested in the raid. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for his informer.

The video shows Dhankar (23) lying with his back on the ground while Sushil Kumar and three of his aides surround him.

Police said Kumar and his friends thrashed Dhankar and his two friends on May 4 at Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium.

All three had to be hospitalised. Dhankar succumbed to his injuries in a hospital while his friend Sonu, named Kumar and his aides as the assaulters.

The deceased athlete is the son of a Delhi Police head constable, the reports added.

Police said the brawl involved Kumar, Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, Amit and others.

"Sushil had asked (his friend) Prince to make that video. He and his associates thrashed the victims like animals. He wanted to establish his fear in the wrestling community," the police told a court last week, reported NDTV.

Police have even said that the video was made to be shared in the local wrestling circuit to prove Kumar's dominance, the report added.

A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act was registered at the Model Town Police Station, media reported.

Police earlier arrested Dalal (24), who is a resident of Jhajjar and said to be Kumar's aide.

They also recovered the video from Dalal's phone in which Kumar and his friends can be seen thrashing Dhankad and his friends Sonu and Amit Kumar, a Times of India report.

Sushil Kumar had filed a petition for pre-arrest bail at the Rohini court on the grounds that none of the victim's injuries were not caused by him and the case against him was biased, according to reports in media.

However, the prosecution appealed to the court to reject his bail plea saying police had found electronic evidence against him, adding that he was a flight risk.
