BJP MP Gautam Gambhir's foundation illegally bought, distributed Fabiflue: Drug Controller to HC
New Delhi/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Gautam Gambhir's foundation had bought and distributed COVID-19 drug, Fabiflue, without a license, Delhi's Durg Controller told the High Court on Thursday, media reports said.
The court was told that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Praveen Kumar too committed the same crime.
"The inquiry by the drug controller found that the Fabiflu and oxygen were distributed free by both of them but neither had a license to either buy or distribute. So both have been found in violation of Section 18C of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for the purchase and distribution of Fabiflu and Oxygen without license," an official told NDTV.
The drug controller told the court that an action should immediately be taken against Gambhir's foundation.
The drug controller will have to file status reports within six weeks. The next hearing will take place on Jul 29.
The high court is hearing a plea seeking a First Information Report (FIR) against politicians, who allegedly hoarded medicines at a time there was a shortage of drugs.
After the drug controller's statement in the court, Gambhir, a Lok Sabha MP, tweeted, "I am a man and all that affects mankind concerns me - Sardar Bhagat Singh!"
