Is Pranab Mukherjee's son Abhijit Mukherjee joining TMC? Speculations gain pace
Kolkata/IBNS: Suspense grows over political alignment of former President late Pranab Mukherjee's son and Congress leader Abhijit Mukherjee over his recent tweet which has now been deleted.
Though Abhijit Mukherjee had earlier denied any possibility of him joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC), he recently said in a tweet, "I have not said anything in this context to anyone!"
Earlier he had rejected a possibility of him crossing over to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party.
Reportedly, Mukherjee had met a number of TMC leaders over the last few days.
The latest speculation grows at a time when a line of leaders, who had jumped from the TMC to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the polls, are desperate to join the ruling outfit, which returned to power for the third term with a landslide majority on May 2.
Notably, TMC-turned BJP national vice president Mukul Roy and his son Subhrangshu have already gone back to their former party, creating political waves in the state.
Though the BJP managed to win 77 seats as opposed to TMC's 213, the Left and Congress drew a blank for the first time since Independence.
